The newest permanent member of the Suicide Squad is so perfect that she needs to be a part of James Gunn's rebooted DC Universe. With James Gunn's upcoming reboot of the DCU slated to begin in 2025 with the release of Superman (previously titled Superman Legacy), fans have been asking who else will be a part of the director's vision for the DCU. Many names have been tossed around, but the latest inductee into the Suicide Squad, Dreamer, is an absolute must-have for the future cinematic universe.

In Suicide Squad: Dream Team #4 by Nicole Maines, Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira, Dreamer attempts to escape Amanda Waller's grasp. She manages to escape her supposed friends on Task Force X, who've captured her as part of their mission, with the help of Bizarro, before she finally confronts Waller herself — a confrontation that literally ends in tears.

Even though Dreamer has been a relatively new character since she was created for the CW's Supergirl series, Nia Nal has proven herself in recent years as a standout new hero.Dream Team is no different as the story shows just how powerful she can be when under the pressure of being controlled by Amanda Waller. She manages to fight off Harley Quinn and Clock King with the help of Bizarro before taking Waller on one-on-one and easily winning. Even though it turns out the fight was all a vision from her dreams, it's still a fantastic showcase of how well she'd work as a big-screen hero.

Maines absolutely knows the character inside-and-out, and given she's already played her on television, she could easily be recast for the movies.

The best part is that Dreamer will always have the perfect casting choice: Nicole Maines. Maines was the original Dreamer on the CW's Supergirl when this version of the character first premiered, and she's been the main writer for Dreamer's turn to comics ever since. Maines absolutely knows the character inside-and-out, and given that she's already played her on television, she could easily be recast for the movies. It's a perfect opportunity for Dreamer that Gunn can't pass up given how incredible Nia's stories have been in recent years.

Dreamer's Tragic Ending Sets Up Brilliant Drama for a Future in the Movies

Waller Went Full-Blown Supervillain to Trap Her in the Suicide Squad

Perhaps the most interesting thing about Dreamer's final fate as a permanent addition to the Suicide Squad is the lengths Waller went through to make it happen. In a tragic turn of events, it turns out that Waller has linked her heartbeat to Dreamer's own sister and father. If she dies, Nia's family will die along with her due to an enhanced version of the franchise's classic biological bombs, the X-311 Nanite Explosive Device, detonating. It's a plot straight out of Saw III as Waller guarantees her own safety in exchange for preserving the life of Dreamer's loved ones.

This is a brilliant piece of drama as Dreamer finds she's trapped under Waller's thumb with no way to escape. This remarkable story proves that Dreamer has a future in the DCU. Not only is she completely capable of being a powerful hero that can stand alongside the likes of Superman, but she's also backed-up by incredible writing from Maines, who knows the character more than most. While she may be a permanent member of the Suicide Squad in the comics, Dreamer absolutely needs to find her way into James Gunn's rebooted DCU to show fans how incredible she can be on the big screen.
