Every career decision is a family decision. 👀When I took on the challenge of building a French company I knew I needed to invest time in 3 things:1) Time in Cognac as a team member not a tourist. 🇫🇷2) Time with my family so they know they are my priority. ☝🏽3) Time to enjoy the journey of learning and leading with theUncle Nearest, Inc.crew. ⭐️After 5 trains, 4 cities, 3 planes and 2 weeks, we’re back from an amazing time in France. It was epic and exhausting! The most surprising thing was also the most simple… 👇🏾Out of ALL the moments we shared with our kids - Disney Paris, Eiffel Tower, beaches, vineyards and croissants - guess what their#1favorite thing was??? 🥁🥁🥁Meeting. My. Coworkers. 🤯🤯Seriously, they loved askingFawn Weaverquestions about being a boss and how “dad is doing at work.” They loved meeting our amazing Master Blender and hearing about grapes. They enjoyed “Miss Marie” and her thoughtfulness.Seeing France through my children's eyes was a delight. Allowing my children to see me in this new light was a dream. Making memories while making Cognac is a beautiful thing! 🙏🏾

Impressive! As an American creating a company in France, that's truly remarkable! It’s a different story for me as a French entrepreneur building a company in Mexico but a big challenge 🤓 Congratulations, Adrian! Keep going strong! 💪

“I don’t believe you own the brand unless you own the land. It’s special to us. But it’s also incredibly special to Black people.Historically, we’ve done a lot of renting but not a lot of owning. A lot of being an ambassador and building other people’s stuff, but not a whole lot of building our own.”Those words from Fawn Weaver are more than a timely headline, they are a testament to the reason why we do what we do. We don't tell the story of Uncle Nearest to sell whiskey. We sell whiskey to tell the story of Uncle Nearest. She goes on to say: "I am clear about my mission, mandate, and purpose. When I walk through the door, my head is held high, my shoulders back, my stride is long, and my presence is towering, even though I only stand at 5’ 4”."That’s why “Imposter Syndrome” has never been a part of my life; not even a thought."Because I am exactly who God created me to be, exactly where God opened the door for me to be, and I am living God’s will for my life. That mindset and “Imposter Syndrome” cannot coexist."It is not success that gives me confidence. Failure has given me more confidence than success ever will."Watch the video. Read the article. Buy the book (and the bottle!). 😬VIDEO--> https://lnkd.in/gnWNQmpX

New vines going in this week at our property in France! 🍇These grapevines in Grande Champagne will yield an amazing wine. 🍷That wine will be distilled twice to become a very sweet brandy called "eau de vie" (water of life). 💧That eau de vie will age for 2 years in French Oak casks to become Cognac. 🥃That Cognac will continue aging for years - often decades - to become the most elegant spirit you've ever tasted. ⏳I can't wait for yall to experience what we're creating! But I kinda have to. 😬

I started in the spirits industry 11 years ago and had never seen anything like the inaugural "Spirits on the Rise" summit last year. I couldn't believe what was happening...👏🏽 Brands that would typically be considered competitors were collaborating on how to give everyone opportunities.💰 Prominent investors and bankers freely shared information & advice with no strings attached.🚫 Multi-millionaires, scrappy start-ups, seasoned execs & people of all demographics came together to learn with NO EGO.I'm convinced of 3 things--> 1) Staying inside the walls of the same companies that continue to exclude, marginalize & minimize us is no longer a necessary evil (in this or any industry).2) The headshots on the "Leadership" page of your company's website tell you all you need to know. 3) The 4% of African-Americans in spirits hasn't changed in decades... until now.Sign. Up. 🎤 ✋🏽

Your company doesn’t have a diversity PROBLEM. 😳Your company has made a diversity DECISION. 🤯The diversity you don’t see is a direct result of what you don’t do, the corrections you don’t make, the commitments you won’t fulfill and the disparity you won’t measure.Issues that are knowable, avoidable, preventable, predictable and solvable are no longer called "problems." They are called CHOICES. And you - as an employee, leader or manager - always have a choice of where you spend your time, talents and energy.Work wisely.
