Tom Cruise's next 'Mission: Impossible' film was set to release on June 28, 2024. Now, fans will have to wait a little longer for the release of the film as it has now been pushed back for nearly a year. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the new release date is May 23, 2025.
However, that's not the only change. The film's previously-announced title, 'Mission: Impossible -- Dead Reckoning Part Two', is also undergoing a makeover. A fresh title is in the works, the publication added.

The previous instalment, 'Dead Reckoning Part 1', garnered rave reviews after its July 2023 release. However, the next instalment is postponed due to strikes in Hollywood, which have compelled a complete shutdown of production.
These labour disturbances have caused scheduling mayhem for not just this film but multiple Hollywood projects.

Mission: Impossible 8 is expected to continue the narrative of 2023's Mission: Impossible. The eighth Mission is being shot with Imax cameras and will be carried in Imax theatres for a full three weeks, ANI reported. This comes after MI 7 lost its Imax screens quickly because of Oppenheimer.

The seventh "Mission", directed by Christopher McQuarrie, opened in cinemas shortly before Barbenheimer's international sensation. It grossed $567,535,383 ( ₹4,714 crore) worldwide. The 'Mission: Impossible' series is known for the customary high-octane stunt, often performed by Cruise himself. It has become the marketing tool for the films.
Hollywood strike
While screenwriters are back at work, film and television performers are still on strike, with the longest walkout in their history reaching the 100-day mark on October 21 after talks with studios failed. On the same day, the actors' union and a major studio alliance stated in a joint statement that negotiations will restart next week on October 24, with several studio executives likely to participate.
